Current ArtSeed Programs:

ArtSeed’s Labyrinth Studios Drop-in Sundays 1 3 p.m. Collaborative art-making studios where you can start your own art project or you can join a group endeavor. Teachers, families and artists of all ages and levels of expertise practice time-tested or experimental techniques using the highest grade materials. 1) freelance space, equipment use, and exhibition opportunities for volunteers; 2) training for artists who wish to teach; 3) coaching for classroom teachers who wish to get ideas for classroom art projects; 4) year-long apprenticeships; 5) afterschool instruction or weekend classes; 6) fieldtrips with hands-on activities. Open all day on public school holidays and by appointment. No one turned away for lack of funds.

ArtSeed Labyrinth Studios All-Day Workshop Public School Holidays, 8:30am-5:30pm: January 15 (Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Birthday); February 16 (Lunar New Year); February 19 (President’s Day); March 30 (Cesar Chavez); May 28 (Memorial Day); September 3 (Labor Day); October 8 (Indigenous People’s Day); November 12 (Veteran’s Day).

Youth Council/Art-a-thon Planning Meetings: 3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m., Sundays, February – April.

ArtSeed Fine Arts Spring Intensive, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekdays, March 26 – 30, 2018. For ten students, ages 8 to 18 years, or for younger students after an interview. Individual portfolio and collaborative project-building workshop with teaching artists, guest presenters, and adult volunteers culminating in a fall exhibition.For information about sliding scale tuition and scholarships, call 415-656-9849. Locations: The Presidio’s Tides Converge galleries, 1007 General Kennedy Ave. Suites 206 and 215, S.F., CA 94129. ArtSeed Earth Week Art-a-thon, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.Saturday, April 21, 2018. Make art for yourself or for ArtSeed’s annual exhibition. See exhibition details below. Artists of all ages and levels of experience are invited to come together for a 10- hour art-and-music-making marathon. Planning meetings start Sundays in February 4th, 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. at 4301 Geary Blvd at 7th Avenue, 2nd floor, (call numbers below to confirm). ArtSeed Spring Open Studios, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 21 & 22. ArtSeed presents selected work from our educational programs to be displayed alongside art by mentoring artists. Location: Bayview Hunters Point Shipyard, Building 101, Studio 2513

ArtSeed’s Year-End Exhibition, working title, Mailing Home: Connecting John Brown’s Legacy to Aspirations and Enslavements of Our Time. Opening Reception, 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018; Closing Reception 3 – 5 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018. Artists, veterans, children, and disabled adults work with artists to engender trust with art distributed via post far and wide. Easy reply storyboards will have encouraged continued dialog among participants who make it their business to resolve conflicts. Original artworks include interactive components and online documentation of both local and international exchanges. Location: China Brotsky and Seed Galleries, Tides Converge, Rear Entrance: 1016 Torney Ave.
