2018 Calendar of Fall Events
ArtSeed’s Labyrinth Studios Teachers, families and artists of all ages and levels of expertise practice time-tested or experimental techniques using the highest grade materials. 1) Freelance space, equipment use, and exhibition opportunities for volunteers; 2) Training for artists who wish to teach; 3) Coaching for classroom teachers who wish to get ideas for classroom art projects; 4) Year-long apprenticeships; 5) Afterschool instruction and weekend classes; 6) Fieldtrips with hands-on activities. Drop-in Sundays, 1–3 p.m. Collaborative art-making studios where you can start your own art project or can join a group endeavor. No one turned away for lack of funds. All-Day Workshop Public School Holidays, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.: May 28 (Memorial Day); September 3 (Labor Day); October 8 (Indigenous People’s Day); November 12 (Veteran’s Day). Presidio Teacher’s Night, 4–7 p.m. Tuesday, September 25. ArtSeed provides teachers gifts, tastes of art activities, information on services and resources. Location: Presidio Officer’s Club, 50 Moraga Ave., San Francisco, CA 94129.
ArtSeed Year-End Exhibition, Mailing Home: Who Was John Brown? Who Is Jim Crow? Who Are We? September 6 through Saturday, October 6, Closing Reception 3–5 p.m. Veterans, children, disabled adults and artists grapple with tough subjects such as the evolution of slavery, its various manifestations, and other challenges to democracies around the world. Location: China Brotsky and Seed Galleries at Tides Converge in the Presidio, 1007 General Kennedy Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94129. Gallery hours are Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Easy parking available and wheelchair accessible.
ArtSeed Youth Open Studios, ArtSeed promotes the works of young artists (in collaboration with ArtSpan).

Direct Impact Marketplace, 5:30–8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 18. A showcase highlighting conscious shopping and advocating for better consumption, education and creativity for all (in collaboration with Sports Basement & Patagonia) Location: Sports Basement, 610 Old Mason St., San Francisco, CA 94129 (in the Presidio near Crissy Field).
ArtSeed Fall Open Studios, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, October 20 & 21. ArtSeed presents selected works from our educational programs to be displayed alongside art by mentoring artists. Location: Bayview Hunters Point Shipyard, Building 101, Gallery and Studio 2513, San Francisco, CA 94124.
Children Toy and Book Festival, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Wednesday, December 5. Outreach event providing children and families free books and gifts. Location: City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B Goodlett Pl., San Francisco, CA 94102.
